Position description / Responsibilities

A post-doctoral position is available at the Faculty of Sport Science of Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) for the duration of 2 ½ years, starting not later than October 2018 (earlier starting date possible). The Faculty aims to strengthen its profile in the areas of Health & Performance with a specific focus on Exercise in Children and Adolescents.

The successful post-doctoral candidate is expected to participate in interdisciplinary research of the Faculty’s departments Human Movement Science, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Sports Medicine & Nutrition, and Training & Exercise Science. The candidate can collaborate with researchers and PhD students from the above mentioned departments and also work with MSc students.

Further, the candidate’s skill and expertise should add to the Faculty’s research portfolio and the candidate is expected to contribute to the Faculty’s development by initiating new research projects, by writing grant proposals and by publishing research in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

The load of teaching will be calculated according to §3 of Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung (state of North Rhine-Westphalia).

Travel expenses for interviews cannot be refunded.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have an excellent PhD and a strong background in one of the above mentioned fields (Human Movement Science, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Sports Medicine & Nutrition, and Training & Exercise Science) and/or a related field. Your methodological approach should allow to detect relevant mechanisms in the field of Exercise in Children and Adolescents.

We are looking for an integrative personality with teaching experience. Strong written and oral communications skills are necessary.

Candidates with experience in successful grant writing and international collaborations are especially encouraged to apply.
